Gimli is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. He is a dwarf warrior and the son of Glóin. Gimli represents the race of Dwarves as part of the Fellowship of the Ring. In the course of the adventure, Gimli aids the Ring-bearer Frodo Baggins, participates in the War of the Ring, and becomes close friends with Legolas, overcoming an ancient enmity of Dwarves and Elves.
